Since much of the world is experiencing unprecedented heat waves right now, I thought I’d do my part as a supporting force of nature and take you somewhere warm as well—not only in terms of weather however, but perhaps even more so because of its people.
I often say that, more than anything else, it is the people who make a place and shape the experience.
Beautiful beaches, imposing mountain peaks, and lively cities create the visual identity of a country. They are its scenery, its atmosphere, its backdrop. But it is the people—the living soul of a place—who fill it with warmth, energy, and best stories (…).
The Place to Be
In Vietnam, the moment you step outside your hotel, you’re surrounded by movement. Scooters flow through the streets in an endless wave of somehow organized chaos, cafés spill onto the sidewalks, and the line between public and private space almost disappears. The pavement becomes an extension of the businesses and homes beside it, so walking often means weaving around tables, flower pots, parked motorbikes, and people enjoying their evening.
And that’s exactly what makes it so exciting. People gather everywhere—to eat, drink coffee, share a meal, play cards, or simply catch up with friends. The streets remain busy long after sunset, yet despite all the activity, there is very little sense of disorder (…).
