A Land Down Under
Ah, Australia — I’ve been hearing stories about this place for as long as I can remember. The fascinating land down under (…).
It was only a matter of time before I made it there. As a matter of fact, I had already attempted two trips to Australia, but there was always something getting in the way — my health failing at the wrong moment or something else taking priority. Finally, this year, with no excuses left, I embarked on an almost two-month-long journey through the land down under, starting with the city I had heard and knew the most about: Sydney!

My adventures in Australia began nowhere else than in its most iconic of cities: Sydney.
Sydney is admittedly one of my favorite cities in the world. A place I immediately fell in love with. And I think largely because it combines so many of the things I love most.
It is a truly seaside city. Not merely a city located on the coast, with big maritime industry, multiple beaches ideal for surfing like Bondi or Manly, but a place where a vast network of coves and bays dramatically increases the amount of waterfront available into the city (…).
Sydney Opera House
Located on Bennelong Point, a small peninsula extending into Sydney Harbour, just a short walk from Circular Quay and overlooking the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House occupies what must be one of the most spectacular locations for a performing arts centre in this half of the world.
Its design was the work of Danish architect Jørn Utzon. Drawing inspiration from the sails of ships passing through the harbour and combining it with the monumentalism of ancient civilisations, Utzon envisioned something quite unlike the conventional modernist buildings (…).
